HARTFORD, Conn -- Bates College men's tennis, kicking off a weekend trip through the Nutmeg State, made a stop at Trinity College Saturday as the host-Bantams bested the visiting Bobcats, 7-2, in NESCAC action.
Both of Bates' victories on the day came in doubles competition. The Bobcats' top tandem of
Matthew Danielson and
Phillippe Kosyagin defeated Trinity's pairing of Eduardo Sanchez-Carrion and Jack Ginter, 8-2, at the No. 1 position.
Not to be outdone,
Evangelo Kapothanasis and
Ben Adey outlasted Rico Buoro and Brandon Felcher, 8-6, at the No. 3 spot. Luca Garbati and Pierce Rutledge held off
Theo Sardain and
Nicky Desai at No. 2, 8-5, for the Bantam's lone doubles point.
It would be a clean sweep in singles play for Trinity, as the home team collected six unanswered points en route to a fifth-consecutive victory for the Bantams (9-2, 3-0 NESCAC).
Bates (2-9, 0-5 NESCAC) concludes the road portion of its spring slate Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with a visit to Wesleyan University.
