LEWISTON, Maine -- For the first time this spring, Bates College men's tennis took it to the outdoor courts of the Wallach Tennis Center as the Bobcats welcomed Colby College to campus for a Sunday morning NESCAC clash.

The visiting Mules collected a 6-3 victory vs. the garnet and white as Colby climbs to 6-6 (3-2 NESCAC) with the win. Bates, still looking for its first conference triumph, drops to 2-11 (0-7 NESCAC) with the setback.

In doubles action, Colby took two of the three matches to take an initial 2-1 lead.

Jake Cohen and Sam Henry led the Mules to an 8-4 win over the Bates tandem of Alexander Gujarathi and Theo Sardain in the No. 1 slot. The Bobcats evened the score at 1-1 as Matthew Danielson and Phillippe Kosyagin edged Colby's Sandeep Alapati and Paul Dandler at the No. 2 position, 8-6.

At No. 3, Joey Barrett and Josh Kaplan cruised past Evangelo Kapothanasis and Ben Adey ,8-2, to provide the Mules the early edge.

Colby proceeded to win four of six singles matches to lock down the conference victory. The Bobcats were, however, able to muster three-set wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.                                               

Alex Park outlasted Alapati in comeback fashion at No. 5 by scores of 4-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-8) while Adey defeated Sriram Das with a come-from-behind win of 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7).

Bates will return to the court on Tuesday, Apr. 23 with a non-conference home match vs. Endicott College. Start time is set for 3:30 p.m. at the Wallach Tennis Center.
