Box Score 2 LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates men's tennis team rolled to a pair of 9-0 wins Sunday at Merrill Gymnasium, making the most of their first home matches of the spring season.
Bates (2-5) earned victories over both Nichols College (2-7) and the University of Southern Maine (0-2) using a variety of players.

Senior captain
Alexander Gujarathi (Plymouth, Mass.) and sophomore
Theo Sardain (Dedham, Mass.) teamed up at No. 1 doubles against the Bison and won their match by a count of 8-5. Meanwhile, senior captains
Matthew Danielson (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and
Nicky Desai (Hopkinton, Mass.) rolled to an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles. Juniors
Evangelo Kapothanasis (Westbrook, Maine) and
Ben Adey (Falmouth, Maine) rounded out the doubles victories at No. 3, prevailing 8-2.
In singles play, Desai and first-year
Alex Park (Dallas, Texas) both had to work hard for their victories, with each of them winning in three sets. Desai earned a 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 10-6 win at No. 3 singles and Park prevailed 6-0, 4-6, 10-8 at No. 5.
Danielson and Sardain swept their opponents at the top of the lineup, as Danielson won 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 at No. 1 singles and Sardain cruised to a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles.
Junior
Eli Criss (Winchester, Mass.) turned in perhaps the most dominating match against Nichols with his 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. Adey rounded out the singles wins for Bates at No. 6, earning a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) victory.

The Bobcats mixed up their lineups and had even better results in the second match of the day, a 9-0 win over the University of Southern Maine.
Kapothanasis and Adey teamed up at No. 1 doubles to win 8-1 while first-years
Phillippe Kosyagin (Las Vegas, Nev.) and
Nico Ozer (New York City) rolled to an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles. But they weren't the most dominating doubles team for Bates, that honor belonged to Criss and first-year
Griffin Williams (New York City), as they won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
Bates swept all six singles matches against the Huskies.
Ozer played at the top of the lineup and won 6-2, 6-0. Park earned a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 2 singles and Criss kept it going with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3.
Adey and Kosyagin swept their opponents 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 and No. 5 singles respectively, while Kapothanasis rounded out the victories with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6.
Bates is back in action this Wednesday when they travel to Vassar College for a match that gets underway at 3pm.
