WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Bates College men's tennis wrapped up its two-match trip to the Sunshine State Friday afternoon as the Bobcats suffered a 7-0 sweep at Division II Rollins College.

The host-Tars improve to a perfect 4-0 on the spring while garnet and white opens the schedule at 0-2.

In doubles play, Rollins's Efe Comu (Sr.-Istanbul, Turkey) and Luke Quaynor (Jr.-London, England) opened the day by defeating Bates' Alexander Gujarathi and Theo Sardain, 6-1, at the No. 1 position. Nico de Giacomo (Fy.-Vienna, Austria) and Richard Stoiberer (So.-Salzburg, Austria) followed by doubling up Phillippe Kosyagin and Nico Ozer at No. 3, 6-3.

Guillermo Castaneda (Sr.-Veracruz, Mexico) and Charlie Putrino (Gr.-Lakewood Ranch, Fla.) edged Matthew Danielson and Nicky Desai at No. 2 doubles, 7-5, to earn the Tars a 1-0 lead heading into singles action.

Rollins went on to win all six singles showdowns to clinch the victory.

The garnet and white now returns north for its next action, a non-conference "home" match vs. MIT on Sunday, March 3. The Bobcats will host the Engineers at the Woodlands Country Club in Falmouth, Maine  starting at 12:00 p.m.
