WORCESTER, Mass. -- Thirty-nine members of the Bates varsity women's and men's rowing teams won NIRC All-Academic honors on Wednesday from the National Invitational Rowing Championships.

For a student-athlete to be named to the NIRC All-Academic Team, they must have completed one full year at their institution, maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.35, and be recognized as a varsity letter winner.

From the Bates men's team, which finished third in the country at the IRA National Championship, 13 student-athletes were honored: Physics major Timothy Bates '23 (Rueschlikon, Switzerland), politics major coxswain Isabel Beck '25 (Montclair, N.J.), economics major Charlie Berman '24 (Merion Station, Pa.), economics and history major coxswain Aidan Braithwaite '23 (Milton, Mass.), psychology major Sean Christiansen '25 (Roxbury Conn.), physics major William Conway '24 (Needham, Mass.), biochemistry major Micah Johnson '25 (Brentwood, N.H.), sociology major Isaac Levinger '24 (Rockville, Md.), biochemistry major Benjamin MacDonald '23 (Gladwyne, Pa.), economics major Samuel Marchman '23 (Chapel Hill, N.C.), biochemistry major Daniel Rodriguez '24 (Jacksonville, Fla.), mathematics and history major Jimmy Staller '25 (Kensington, N.H.), and biology major Ian Van Loo '25 (Seattle, Wash.).

A total of 349 student-athletes across the country earned a spot on the NIRC All-Academic team this spring.
