AMHERST, Mass. -- #35 Bates College had its season-best three-match winning streak come to an abrupt halt Sunday as #21 Amherst blanked the visiting Bobcats, 9-0, in NESCAC men's tennis action.

The Mammoths (6-4, 2-3 NESCAC) opened the contest by claiming each of the three doubles contests. Kobe Ellenbogen and Ed Opie edged the Bobcats' top duo of Cam Davis-Kania (Sr.-Middlefield, Conn.) and Alexander Gujarathi (Jr.-Plymouth, Mass.), 8-7, at #1 doubles. 

Jakob Esterowitz and Shaw Rhinelander teamed up for an 8-4 win at #2 over the Bates tandem of Matthew Danielson (Jr.-St. Petersburg, Fla.) and Leo Kupferman (Sr.-Montclair, N.J.). At #3 doubles, George Chaidemenos and Sujit Chepuri topped seniors Teddy Koide (Morristown, N.J.) and Nick Forester (Falmouth, Maine), 8-6.

In singles play, Amherst collected straight-set victories in all six contests:
