BRUNSWICK, Maine --
Alexander Gujarathi had a hand in two of the Bobcats' three points Wednesday as #35 Bates College suffered a 6-3 defeat at #12 Bowdoin College in a competitive NESCAC men's tennis tilt.
The victors improve to 9-2 on the season (4-1 NESCAC) while the garnet and white drops to 5-8 (2-6 NESCAC).
Gujarathi (Plymouth, Mass.), along with doubles partner
Cam Davis-Kania (Sr.-Middlefield, Conn.), secured a thrilling 8-7 triumph over Bowdoin's Tristan Bradley and Reid Staples at the No. 1 position. The Bates junior followed that effort with a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 comeback win over Staples at No. 2 singles play.
The Bobcats' other win of the afternoon came at No. 3 doubles with
Nick Forester (Sr.-Falmouth, Maine) and
Teddy Koide (Sr.-Morristown, N.J.) sending off Evan Fortier and Mark Kneiss, 8-5.
