MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Bates College's annual spring visit through the Sunshine State continued Thursday as men's tennis took the court at Eastern Florida State College for an exhibition match vs. the Titans.

EFSC defeated the visiting Bobcats by a score of 9-0.

The Titans opened the contest by claiming each of the three doubles contests. Hugo Car and Lucas Gonzalez defeated the Bobcats' top duo of Cameron Kania (Sr.-Middlefield, Conn.) and Alexander Gujarathi (Jr.-Plymouth, Mass.), 8-3, at #1 doubles. 

Jack Dixon and Colin Taveres teamed up for an 8-5 win at #2 over the Bates tandem of Matthew Danielson (Jr.-St. Petersburg, Fla.) and Leo Kupferman (Sr.-Montclair, N.J.). At #3 doubles, Eric Tripathi and Jett Leong topped seniors Teddy Koide (Morristown, N.J.) and Nick Forester (Falmouth, Maine), 8-4.

In #2 singles action, Tripathi pushed past Gujarathi in a pair of extended sets, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-4). At #3, Kupferman defeated EFSC's Gonzalez in the first frame of their match, 6-3, before the Titan sophomore evened the score with a 6-1 victory in set two.

It would be Gonzalez that would prove victorious, securing the resulting tie-breaker, 8-1, en route to the triumph.

Bates concludes its Florida visit Saturday as the Bobcats head to Winter Park for an 3:00 p.m. match at Division II Rollins College.
