LEWISTON, Maine -- A pair of late second-half tallies proved to be the difference as visiting Bowdoin College erased a 1-0 halftime deficit en route to a 2-1 NESCAC victory Saturday afternoon over the Bates men's soccer team.
The host-Bobcats (1-1, 0-1 NESCAC) grabbed the initial lead in the 48th minute (47:08) when sophomore

The Bates cushion would hold until 79:29 in the second stanza when Bowdoin's Ronaldo Cabral took advantage of a Bobcat infraction by sending in a game-tying penalty kick. Just 1:37 later, after three-straight team saves by the Bates back line on a trio of rapid-fire shots, Tyler Huck finally broke through (81:06) with his first of the year to put the Polar Bears (2-0, 1-0 NESCAC) ahead for good.
Bowdoin out-shot its host by a 17-12 margin, including a 9-6 surplus on frame. Michael Webber gathered five saves for the Polar Bears to improve to 2-0. First-year
Nico Hessel (Brattleboro, Vt.) recorded four saves in the Bates setback.
The garnet and white returns to non-conference action Monday night under the lights of Garcelon Field with a home game againt the University of New England. Start time is set for 8:30 p.m.
