HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates senior linebacker and captain
Tony Hooks was named the NESCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week Monday by the New England Small College Athletic Conference, after his record-breaking performance in Bates' 21-14 victory over Bowdoin on Saturday.
Hooks (New Rochelle, N.Y.) had a game-high 23 tackles (9 solo, 1 for loss) in Bates' 10th victory over Bowdoin in the last 11 seasons. He broke a program record set in 1996 by
Mike Holte '97, when Holte made 21 total tackles against Colby.
Hooks, a first team All-NESCAC selection a year ago, is the most prolific tackler in the conference, averaging 12.2 per game.
