Lewiston, Maine (Wallach Tennis Center) - Bates College men's tennis, playing the final match of its autumn schedule, heads into the winter on a high note as the Bobcats sent off Division II Saint Michael's College by the score of 5-4.
Bates snared its first point in doubles competition as the tandem of
Nick Forester (Sr.-Falmouth, Maine) and
Theophile Sardain (Fy.-Lawrenceville, N.J.) knocked off Saint Michael's Tristian Du Plessis and Josh Weiss, 8-1, in the #3 slot.
The garnet-and-white hit its stride in singles action, securing victories in four of the six showdowns to earn the match victory over the Purple Knights.
Cameron Kania (Sr.-Middlefield, Conn.) posted a win of 7-5, 7-5 vs. Jackson Moser in the #1 position.
Alexander Gujarathi (Jr-Plymouth, Mass.) followed at #2 with a three-set win over Jason Boucher (4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1.
In the #3 match,
Leo Kupferman (Sr.-Montclair, N.J.) swept Mathis Billman, 6-4, 6-1.
Matthew Danielson (Jr.-St. Petersburg, Fla.) did the same, collecting a 6-4, 6-2 triumph vs. Julius van den Brock in position #5.
The Bobcats will return to the court in February.
