LEWISTON, Maine -- Deirdre Corrigan had 15 kills and Kate Carman added 14 to lead Hamilton College to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-21) NESCAC victory over the Bates College volleyball team Friday night in Alumni Gym.
Hamilton (6-5, 2-3 NESCAC) broke a string of four consecutive losses with the victory, while Bates (5-9, 1-5 NESCAC) dropped its third straight.
Corrigan attacked at a .400 percentage with 15 kills and three errors on 30 attempts, and she added 11 digs and three aces to the effort. Carman had 14 kills on 38 attempts with three errors (.289). Melissa Morelli had 34 assists and 11 digs and Cece Nourie led the Continentals with 12 digs.

Allysa Lowther (Wyckoff, N.J.) had nine kills, five blocks, 10 digs and three service aces for the Bobcats, while senior
Sydney Phillips (Plainville, Mass.) added nine kills. Junior
Emma Eide (Ramsey, N.J.) posted 23 assists to go with eight digs and three kills. First-year
Katie Kortekaas (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) had four kills with no errors on seven attacks (.571). Senior
Megan Seabury (Santa Barbara, Calif.) led Bates with 12 digs and added three assists.
Hamilton took charge of the first set with an 8-1 run that gave the Continentals a 13-4 lead, with Maddy LaPoint serving seven straight times. Chiara Morley-McLaughlin had two kills and a block assist in the run. Bates closed to within seven (19-12) with kills by Lowther and Phillips, followed by a team block executed by Lowther and Eide. Hamilton finished off the set with a kill by Corrigan and a clinching ace by Morelli.
Bates played its best in the second set, with an attack percentage advantage of .222 to .204. Bates took a 12-7 lead in the set, but Hamilton scored four in a row to close the gap to 15-13, with kills by Corrigan and Carman. A 3-0 run later tied the set at 18-18, with kills by Corrigan and Summer McClintic, and another Morelli ace. Bates first-year
Julia Neumann (Norwell, Mass.) ended the rally with a kill, but the teams traded points until the Continentals assuemd their first lead at 22-21 with a solo block by Carman. The teams were tied at 23-23 when Hamilton grabbed the crucial set with a kill by Drew Stimson followed by a Bates ball handling error.
Hamilton never trailed in the third set, and broke away from a 13-11 score with six straight points for a 19-11 lead. The Bobcats made a late rally from 23-15 to close within two points (23-21), as Phillips had two kills and Lowther served up consecutive aces and added a kill. The match ended with a Bates attack error at the end of a long rally, then a final kill by Corrigan.
Bates will host Williams (9-1, 3-1) on Saturday at 2pm; Hamilton plays at Colby at the same time.
