Women's soccer drops last road game of the season at Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Playing in their last road game of the season, Bates women's soccer team fell 3-0 at Bowdoin after the host Polar Bears put three goals on the scoreboard in a 14-minute span of the first half.

The Bobcats (3-8-2, 1-7 NESCAC) will return home to host Williams Saturday at 11am, when they will celebrate Senior Day for the team's four members of the Class of 2022: Kat Nuckols (Los Angeles, Calif.), Lauren Berube (Auburn, Maine), Annie Doig (Wayne, Pa.) and Sophie Matt (New Albany, Ohio).

Bowdoin (8-5-1, 3-5-1 NESCAC) held a 14-5 edge in shots over the Bobcats, and a 7-1 corner kick advantage. Penny Rocchio made four saves for the Polar Bears.

Nuckols made four saves in the first half in goal for Bates. Junior Chase Crawford (Indianapolis, Ind.) made two saves and held the Polar Bears scoreless in the second half.

Bowdoin got on the board in the 19th minute off the foot of Julia Adelmann. Adelmann worked the ball around a defender on the left side of the box and chipped a shot to the top right corner. Five minutes later, Jade Cromwell arched a shot over Nuckols' head and into the net. Bowdoin's third and final goal came after Jess Klein put a shot towards net from the midfield, and a Bates defender misplayed the header into the Bobcat goal.

Sophomore defender Rachael Mello (Douglas, Mass.) put two shots on goal for Bates; junior midfielder Cece Pilgrim (North Kingstown, R.I.) and sophomore forward Izzy Lussier (Suffield, Conn.) added one shot on goal apiece.
