LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates men's tennis team hosted the annual Wallach Men's Tennis Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, competing in four singles flights and two doubles flights against players from Amherst, Bowdoin, Colby, Skidmore, Trinity, and Tufts. 

Bates players won a total of five victories in the tournament, with junior Liam Dun (Hopewell, N.J.) reaching the semifinals of the D Singles flight.

Dun defeated Colby's Julian Hernandez 6-1, 6-0, and the second-seeded Bud Fisher of Trinity 6-1, 6-4 to advance to the D Singles semifinals. In Sunday's semifinal round, third-seeded Corey Marley of Tufts defeated Dun 6-0, 6-2.

Bates junior Nick Forester (Falmouth, Maine) won his first-round match in the A Singles Flight against Ross DeRose of Trinity, 6-2, 6-4, before falling to second-seeded Rishabh Sharda of Tufts by a 6-4, 6-3 score.

Sophomore Alexander Archer (Austin, Texas) also won a match, defeating Amherst's Micah Elias 7-5, 7-5 in the C Singles Flight before bowing out to second-seeded Tristan Thiebaut of Skidmore in the second round.

In B Doubles, Bates sophomore Matthew Danielson (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and junior Teddy Koide (Morristown, N.J.) teamed up to defeat William Turchetta and Kobe Ellenbogen Amherst 8-1 in the first round. They fell in the quarterfinals to top-seeded and eventual flight champion Rishabh Sharda and Dylan Glickman of Tufts, 8-3.
