CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Josh Quijano and the doubles team of Ben Eckardt and Nick Glover scored points for the No. 40 nationally ranked Bates men's tennis team as the Bobcats fell 7-2 at MIT in non-conference action on Saturday.

With juniors Jacob Kauppila (Chesterfield, Mo.) and Vidyut Yadav (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) missing from action, Bates' (3-6) shuffled lineup dropped two out of three doubles matches and five of six singles contests to the host Engineers (3-3).

Eckardt (Montgomery, N.J.) and Glover (Austin, Texas) defeated Michael Zhao and Albert Go 8-5 at No. 2 doubles, while Quijano (Los Angeles, Calif.) and fellow senior captain Duane Davis (Dix Hills, N.Y.) dropped a narrow 8-6 decisino to Tyler Barr and Alex Cauneac at first doubles.

Quijano dropped the first set to Barr at No. 1 singles by a 6-2 score, but roared back to win the second by the same count and prevail in a super tiebreaker third set. Quijano has won six of his past seven matches at No. 1 singles -- three of those victories have been comebacks from a set down.

Bates will look to get back on a winning track in a non-conference match at Babson Sunday at 10am.
