LEWISTON, Maine -- More children die from cancer in the United States than any other disease. Bates College Squash has teamed up with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation's Vs. Cancer program to change this.
Throughout the season, the team is raising awareness and funds for local kids with cancer, and they will celebrate their efforts on Sunday, December 2 during their home match against Trinity College, which gets underway at 11am. The Bobcats will be wearing special T-shirts and displaying placards with names of people in their lives who have or are battling cancer.
In partnership with Vs. Cancer, the team has selected the pediatric oncology unit at the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth Hitchcock to receive a portion of the funds they raise. They have set their fundraising goal at $2,000 and thanks to the support of their family and friends are well on their way to reaching that goal.
