BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Sophomore Ben Rosen continued his success at No. 1 singles, but the No. 24 nationally ranked Bates men's tennis team fell 8-1 to No. 2 Bowdoin on Wednesday.

Bowdoin (13-1, 6-1 NESCAC) swept the three doubles matches, including 8-2 wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Rosen (Port Washington, N.Y.) and junior Chris Ellis (Shrewsbury, Mass.) lost 8-4 to Luke Tercek and Luke Trinka at first doubles.

Rosen won his fourth straight match at No. 1 singles against Tercek, taking the first set 6-4, dropping set two 6-2 and bouncing back to win set three 11-5.

At No. 4 singles, junior co-captain Pat Ordway (Falmouth, Maine) tied Jerry Jiang with a 6-4 win in the second set, before the Polar Bears won the point with a 6-4 win in set three.

The Polar Bears will return to Lewiston for the NESCAC Tennis Championships, to be played at Wallach Tennis Center May 6-8. The Bobcats have missed qualifying for the tournament's six-team field.
