WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Senior Moriah Greenstein scored five goals and junior Drew Barry added three as the No. 13 nationally ranked Bates women's lacrosse team rolled to a 14-5 NESCAC victory at Williams College Saturday on Farley-Lamb Field.

Bates (7-1, 3-1 NESCAC) outscored Williams (4-4, 2-2 NESCAC) 13-2 over a span of over 46 minutes, overwhelming the host Ephs particularly over the final 10 minutes of the game.

Bates is off to its best start through eight games since 1992. The Bobcats play their first home game since March 12 on Tuesday against the University of Southern Maine, starting at 4:30pm.

Williams closed the gap from 7-2 to 7-4 with 10:30 remaining in the game, with back-to-back goals by Anne Rehfuss and Olivia Polk, but Bates exploded for seven unanswered goals over a span of fewer than seven minutes, turning the game from a close one into a runaway victory.

Bates is tied with Colby and Trinity for second place in the conference, trailing only Middlebury. Williams drops into a tie for sixth place with Hamilton.

At 12:18 of the first half, Bates sophomore Teal Otley (Cumberland, Maine) netted free position goal and Bates took a 3-2 lead. That expanded to 4-2 at the half on a Barry goal that was assisted by first-year Lili Brown (Darien, Conn.) at 4:29. Greenstein added on to her own team record with her 76th career assist.

The Bobcats opened the second half with another three-goal splurge, with two goals by Greenstein (Glenmont, N.Y.) and one by senior Alex Briody (North Kingstown, R.I.).

Williams registered back-to-back goals by Rehfuss and a free position tally by Polk to narrow the Bates' lead to three at 7-4. Bates responded with seven consecutive goals over the next 12 minutes to boost their lead to 14-4. In that span Greenstein and Barry (Portland, Maine) both scored twice. Barry's hat trick represents her first career multi-goal game.

Greenstein matched her career high with five goals for the second time this season. Her third tally of the game represented the 100th goal of her career, making her the ninth player in team history to reach the milestone.

Five different players scored one goal each for the Ephs.

Bates won 13 of the 21 draw controls and outshot the Ephs 22-19.

Bates senior goalie Hannah Jeffrey (Greenwich, Conn.) saved 15 of the Eph shots on goal to collect her seventh win of the season.

Ana Alvarenga played the first 41:15 in goals for the Ephs and made two saves, allowing seven goals. Margaret Draper played the final 18:45 and she also made two saves and allowed seven goals.
