WATERVILLE, Maine -- Senior Hannah Graves scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime period to deliver a thrilling ending to the season for the Bates women's soccer team, a 2-1 win at Colby.

Bates (5-9-1, 1-8-1 NESCAC) picked up its first conference victory, rose into ninth place in the final conference standings and put Colby (6-9, 1-9 NESCAC) into 10th place with the victory.

With 3:43 left in the second overtime -- the game's 107th minute -- sophomore Olivia Amdur (Chicago, Ill.) sent a long shot from the left wing that bounced off of the crossbar and out to Bates first-year Torri Pelletier (Topsham, Maine) on the right side of the penalty area. Pelletier alertly passed the ball out to the trailing Graves (Weston, Mass.), who was charging into the box. The senior drilled a low shot past one defender and inside the far left post for the game-winner.

The goal was Graves' fifth this year, giving her the team lead in goals and points (14) on the season. Graves missed her junior season with an injury.

Junior midfielder Hannah Behringer (Old Lyme, Conn.) gave Bates a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute on an assist from Amdur. Behringer's fourth goal momentarily put her in a tie for first on the team with Graves, Amdur and first-year Riley Turcotte (Middletown, R.I.). The assist was Amdur's team-high fifth of the season.

Ten minutes later, Colby's Aliza Van Leesten's fourth goal of the year evened the game at 1-1, where it remained for the following 66 minutes of play.

Bates outshot Colby in every period, finishing with a 24-11 advantage. Both teams took four corner kicks.

The game was the final one in the college soccer careers of Graves, captains Allison Hill (Brunswick, Maine) and Erin Shea (Marshfield, Mass.), Alexa Adams (Williamstown, Mass.) and Ana Urbina (Bow, N.H.).
