LEWISTON, Maine - The No. 26 Bates men's tennis team rallied from a 2-1 deficit in doubles to defeat No. 18 Wesleyan University in NESCAC action Sunday afternoon at Merrill Gym. Bates (7-4, 2-0, NESCAC) was ranked No. 16 before slipping to No. 26 in the national rankings released March 26. Wesleyan (2-5, 0-2 NESCAC) was ranked No. 34 before climbing to the number 18 spot in the most recent rankings. It's the second win in as many days for the Bobcats. 

Senior Henry Lee (Sag Harbor, N.Y.) and sophomore Patrick Ordway (Falmouth, Maine) picked up the lone point in doubles competition, defeating Jake Roberts and Greg Lyon, 8-4 in the number-two doubles win.

In singles competition, Michael Liu defeated Pierre Planche (Natick, Mass.) in number-one singles for Wesleyan, but the Bobcats responded with wins in the number two and three singles spots. Christopher Ellis (Shrewsbury, Mass.) defeated Steven Chen in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, while Adam Schwartz (Los Angeles, Calif.) defeated Jake Roberts, also in straight sets 6-2, 7-6 (5). Wesleyan took the number-four spot with a win by Dhruv Yada over first-year Brent Feldman (Waccabuck, N.Y.), 6-2, 6-2, but Bates responded with a straight set win from first-year Ben Rosen (Port Washington, N.Y.), 6-1, 6-1 in the number five singles position, and Patrick Ordway took the three set win over Cameraon Daniels in the number six spot, 7-5, 6-7, 6-1.

Bates returns to action against Bowdoin in NESCAC action on April 9 in Lewiston, Maine.
