Men's tennis downs No. 35 Brandeis, 5-2

LEWISTON, Maine - The No. 26 Bates men's tennis team took two of three in doubles competition on the way to a 5-2 victory over No. 35 Brandeis University, 5-2 Saturday evening in non-conference action at Merrill Gym.

Senior Pierre Planche (Natick, Mass.) and sophomore Christopher Ellis (Shrewsbury, Mass.) netted the win in number one doubles, defeating Brian Granoff and Danny Lubarsky, 8-6. First-years Ben Rosen (Port Washington, N.Y.) and Adam Schwartz (Los Angeles, Calif.) also won in doubles competition, 8-4 over Ryan Bunis and Alec Siegel.

Planche also picked up the win in number one singles play, defeating Granoff in consecutive sets, 6-3, 7-5. Adam Schwartz and sophomore Brent Feldman (Waccabuc, N.Y.) also won in consecutive sets, with Schwartz defeating Lubarsky in the number three slot and Feldman battling to a 7-6 first-set win over Siegal, before following with the strait set victory in number four singles.

The Bobcats are right back in action on Sunday, March 29 at Merrill Gym when they play host to NESCAC opponent Wesleyan University with a 2:00 p.m. start.
