CLAREMONT, Calif. – No. 23 Bates College men's tennis picked up a win in doubles play before eventually falling to No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.

In the final match of their California trip, the Bobcats (0-3) trailed 2-1 heading into singles action. The Stags (3-0) then swept all six singles matches.

Senior Timmy Berg (Bradenton, Fla.) and junior Pierre Planche (Natick, Mass.) teamed up to beat Joe Dorn and Warren Wood of CMS, 8-6, on doubles court No. 1 to gain the only point for the Bobcats.

The Stags won each singles match in straight sets.

Next, Bates hosts Babson on March 7 at 4 p.m.
