LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College defeated Colby College in men's tennis Monday evening at Merrill Indoor Gymnasium by a 7-2 score.
Junior Ben Stein (Pelham, N.Y.) paced the Bobcats with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Bryan Brown at No. 1 singles and an 8-2 win with sophomore Amrit Rupasinghe (Colombo, Sri Lanka) at No. 1 doubles. Sophomore Zach Fenno (Armonk, N.Y.) and senior Danilo Acosta (Quito, Ecuador) teamed up to win 8-6 at No. 2 doubles before winning at fifth and sixth singles, respectively. Sophomores Michael Reiss (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and Max Berger (Concord, N.H.) won decisively at third and fourth singles, respectively.
Bates (6-2) will next play at the University of Southern Maine Thursday, March 20 at 4 p.m.
