WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Trinity College's men's tennis team (13-2) edged Bates (9-9) 4-3 Friday afternoon in the first round of the NESCAC Dual Match Tournament at Williams College.

Trinity, which defeated Bates eight days ago by a 7-0 score, clinched the opening doubles point, winning at Nos. 1 and 2. The Bobcats made it a tight match, winning three singles matches, but came up just short of the upset. Wining for Bates were senior All-American Will Boe-Wiegaard (Georgetown, Conn.) at No. 1, senior Tristan Beach (Grand Rapids, Mich.) at No. 2, and first-year Ben Stein (Pelham, N.Y.) at No. 5.
Trinity will face host and second-seed Williams tomorrow in a 1 p.m. semifinal.
