GORHAM, Maine  --  The Bates College Bobcats took two of three doubles matches and five of six singles flights en route to a 6-1 victory over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference men's college tennis match Tuesday afternoon.

Bates won its second straight match to conclude its regular season at 9-8. The Bobcats will play in their conference tournament against Trinity College this Friday at Williams College at 1 p.m. 

Southern Maine slips to 5-3.

Senior All-American Will Boe-Wiegaard (Georgetown, Conn.) led the Bobcats with a straight sets win at number one singles, and combined with senior doubles partner Tristan Beach (Grand Rapids, Mich.) for a win at number one doubles.

First-years Mike Sherman (Huntington, N.Y.) and Ben Stein (Pelham, N.Y.) posted wins at number three and four singles, respectively, and combined to win the number two doubles match.

For Southern Maine, junior Craig Spann (Redding, Conn.) was victorious at number two singles and the doubles combination of junior Justin Chaffee (Fryeburg, Maine) and freshman Derek Stevenson (Windham, Maine) won the number three flight.
