LEWISTON, Maine -- The Amherst College men's tennis team, ranked third in the Northeast in the latest Fila Collegiate Tennis Rankings, defeated Bates College, ranked fourth, 5-2 Sunday afternoon at the Wallach Tennis Center.

Bates (6-5) got one of its points at No. 1 singles, where senior All-American Will Boe-Wiegaard (Georgetown, Conn.) defeated Amherst's Josh Rilla 6-3, 5-7, 7-5.

The Bobcats also took the doubles point, where Boe-Wiegaard and senior Tristan Beach (Grand Rapids, Mich.) defeated Rilla and Zach Lepner at No. 1 doubles, while at No. 2 doubles, junior Greg Little (Portsmouth, N.H.) and sophomore Josh Feinberg (The Woodlands, Texas) edged the Lord Jeffs' Mike Mintz and Jon Godsall 9-7.

Bates next plays at Bowdoin College on April 15.
