BOX SCORE: Bates 3, Colby 2 (OT)
LEWISTON, Maine -- First-year Samantha Rothkopf (Chicago, Ill.) scored on a penalty corner just one minute and four seconds into overtime to give the Bates College field hockey team a 3-2 victory over NESCAC rival Colby on Saturday.
Bates ends its season at 6-8 overall, 2-7 in NESCAC play. Colby is also finished at 4-10, 1-8 (NESCAC).
Bates junior Erin Chandler (Thornton, Pa.) put Bates ahead 1-0 just six minutes into the game, then tied the game at 2-2 in the 55th minute on an assist by Rothkopf. Chandler also earned an assist on Rothkopf's game-winner, as did junior Caitlin Tamposi (Temple, N.H.).
Colby first-year Ashley Wagner (Sudbury, Mass.) tied the game at 1-1 in the 11th minute of the game, assisted by sophomore Madison Gregor (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) on a penalty corner. Gregor put the Mules on top 2-1 in the opening minutes of the second half.
Colby junior Jamie Enos (South Hamilton, Mass.) made four saves; Bates senior Sarah Sprague (Cleveland, Ohio) tallied three.
