    Director of Women's Golf (2021-2025)
Abby Spector spent four years as director of the women's golf program at Bates.

A member of the Maine Golf Hall of Fame and the Maine Sports Hall of Fame, Spector was described as "the most recognizable name in women's golf in Maine," by the Portland Press Herald in 2016. She was a four-time state golf champion at Waterville High School, a seven-time Maine Women's Amateur Golf champion, and the winner of the 2001 New England Women's Golf Championship. 

She earned a golf scholarship to the University of North Carolina, where she played for four years and earned a bachelor's degree in inter-organizational communication and media studies. A PGA member who is the director of instruction at Riverside Golf Course in Portland, Spector was voted Golf Digest's Best Teacher in Maine for 2019–20. She was formerly the head golf pro at Sugarloaf Golf Club in Carrabassett Valley.  

"This is sort of a bucket list thing for me, as I've always wanted the opportunity to coach college golf," said Spector, whose influence is felt throughout the Maine golf community. The Maine Golf Association's annual Abby Spector Award honors the female Maine golfer who best exemplifies the "spirit of the game through a unique combination of her ability and sportsmanship, her perseverance and courage, and her passion for, and commitment to, promoting the growth and the enjoyment of the game of golf."
