Mottur raced to the finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:08.87 at the NESCAC Men's Track and Field Championships, winning by nearly four seconds over defending champion Zygmund Goddard of Middlebury. He becomes the first Bobcat to win the conference championship in the event since Justin Easter '03 in 2002. With the win, Mottur secures the first conference championship and All-NESCAC honors of his career. He also moves up to fifth on the Bates all-time performance list in the event. Easter holds the school record at 8:54.23, as he twice won the NCAA Division III championship and was a four-time All-American in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Mottur currently ranks 19th in the country this year in the event.
