Junior goalkeeper Rob Strain (Montclair, N.J.) made a game-high 13 saves in the cage on 23 shots to help the Bates men's lacrosse team edge Trinity 20-19 on the road Saturday, the Bobcats' fifth straight win.

The Bobcats pulled out the win despite Trinity amassing a 58-39 advantage in shots and a 54-28 edge in ground balls. The Bantams also won 33-43 faceoffs. 

With the score tied at 19, Strain made a save on a shot from Trinity's Ben Knaus with 6:13 remaining in the game. After the Bantams picked up the ground ball, Strain made another save on a shot from Drew Kozub. This time the Bobcats cleared the ball and with 1:58 left junior captain Curtis Knapton gave the Bobcats the lead for good with his second goal of the afternoon. 

Trinity won the ensuing faceoff and Strain made his 13th save of the day, on a Teddy Myers shot. Bates clinched the win when senior captain Rocco Fantoni caused a turnover and the Bobcats held on to the ball until the clock hit zero.

Strain's 13 saves are a season-high and they come on the heels of a 20-8 win over Western New England where Strain recorded seven saves, with a save percentage of 70%.
