Sophomore Caroline Apathy (Devon, Pa.) earned five All-America honors at the 2019 NCAA Championships, giving her 10 in your career so far at Bates.
She marked the first day of the NCAA Division III Championships by helping Bates place eighth in the 200-yard medley relay, winning First Team All-America honors for herself, junior Janika Ho, junior Emmy Daigle and first-year Suzy Ryckman.
Apathy followed that up with a third-place showing in the women's 100-yard butterfly race, the program's best national finish since 2016.
Prior to the 100 butterfly finals, Bates placed 13th in the 200-yard freestyle relay, earning Honorable Mention All-America honors for Ho, Ryckman, sophomore Erin Bucki and Apathy.
Bates went on to take 16th place in the 400-yard medley relay, earning the final Honorable Mention All-America honors of the event for first-year backstroke leg Isabel Mohammadi-Hall, junior breaststroke leg Daigle, butterfly leg Apathy and Ho in the freestyle leg.
Then the women's swimming team took 15th place in the 400-yard freestyle relay, and finished in 20th place as a team on the fourth and final day of the 2019 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships Saturday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Apathy teamed with Ho, Ryckman, and first-year Caroline Sweeney in the event.
