The Bates men's tennis team took a gritty 6-3 victory at Trinity College on Sunday, with the Bobcats winning two of four final, lengthy singles matches to clinch the win.
The match was Bates' first since Feb. 21, 2020, and its first conference match since April 28, 2019.
Bates sophomore Nick Forester (Falmouth, Maine) clinched Bates' victory with a big comeback win at No. 1 singles over Granville Kaynor. After Kaynor took the first set 6-0, Forester fought back to win 6-4 in the second set, then took the pro-set tiebreaker 10-3.
Forester and first-year Nikesh Desai (Hopkinton, Mass.) defeated Trinity's Ross Derose and Eduardo Sanchez-Carrion 8-5 at No. 2 doubles earlier in the match.
