Bates first-year forward Chelsea Nason was one of several members of the Bobcat women's basketball team who were called upon to play big minutes as the team played three games in five days against in-state rivals last week. And Nason delivered impressively, helping Bates go 3-0 with wins over the University of New England, Bowdoin and Colby.

Nason (Boxford, Mass.) had her first career double-double in Bates' 59-58 win over UNE on Dec. 4, with 12 points and 10 rebounds to go with two steals, while never leaving the floor over the game's 45 minutes. Nason shot 3-of-6 from three-point land in the game.

Nason collected seven points and six rebounds in Bates' 63-57 win over Bowdoin on Thursday, then on Saturday she led the Bobcats in scoring (15) and rebounding (8) in Bates' 62-49 triumph over Colby, shooting 6-of-7 from the field in the contest. Over the three games, she averaged 11.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals for the week. On the week she shot 11-25 from the field (.440), 4-for-12 from behind the three-point arc (.333) and 8-9 from the line (.889). She was named Maine Rookie of the Week by the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association, while senior teammate Allie Beaulieu (Swampscott, Mass.) took home Player of the Week honors from both the NESCAC and MWBCA.
