Junior setter Miranda Shapiro notched a team-leading 4.33 assists per set to go with 2.00 digs per set last week to help lead Bates volleyball to a 3-2 record with wins over Husson, Endicott, and Simmons.

A native of New York, N.Y., Shapiro posted two double-doubles at the MIT Invitational over the weekend recording 25 assists and 17 digs in addition to five service aces in a 3-2 win over Simmons on Sunday and 17 assists and 10 digs in a five-set victory over Endicott on Saturday.

Earlier in the week, the Horace Mann High School graduate dished out a match-best 19 assists in a straight-set win at Husson on Sept. 11. She also tallied 10 assists vs. Wellesley at MIT on Sunday.

On the week, the co-captain totaled a team-best 78 assists in addition to 36 digs and eight service aces. On the season she has averaged 4.12 assists per set, 1.66 digs per set, and 0.47 aces per set.

Shapiro and the Bobcats open NESCAC play at Williams on Friday at 8 p.m.
