First-year Hannah Graves assisted on Bates women’s soccer’s first goal and scored the second in the team’s 2-0 win over the University of New England on Thursday night under the lights at Garcelon Field to gain Bobcat of the Week accolades for the week of Oct. 7-13.

The points marked the first of Graves’s career as a Bobcat.

On the squad’s first goal, Graves took a pass from senior Kara Stefaniak and attacked the Nor’easter defense along the left wing. She then sent a cross into the six-yard box where a waiting Lily Peterson knocked the ball into the back of the net in the 24^th minute. Graves gave the Bobcats breathing room in the 81^st minute when she converted on a cross from Stefaniak.

Against UNE, Graves -- a product of Weston, Mass. -- recorded seven shots (three on goal) in her third start of the season. She has played in all 10 games for Bates as a rookie and has notched 14 shots on the year.

Graves and the Bobcats return to play against Middlebury on Saturday at noon on Russell St. Field.
