First-year running back Ivan Reese rushed for 101 yards on 21 carries in his first collegiate start in football’s 28-17 loss to Middlebury on Saturday to gain Bobcat of the Week accolades for the week of Oct. 14-20.

A product of Savannah, Ga., Reese averaged 4.8 yards per carry and eclipsed the 100-yard mark for the first time in his career after totaling 41 rushing yards combined in his first four games. He also caught one pass for 10 yards against the Panthers.

The Savannah Christian Academy graduate helped setup Bates’ first touchdown picking up a 34-yard gain to bring the ball to the Middlebury 20-yard line before moving the chains with a 7-yard run on a third-and-five play.

Bates’ offensive line – LT Mitch Hildreth, LG Lyle Seebeck, C Larry Guinee, RG Michael Bernstein, and RT Liam O’Neil – helped create holes for Reese throughout the game and allowed the Bobcats to gain 259 yards on the ground as a team.

Next, Bates travels to Colby to open CBB play on Saturday at 1 p.m.
