Senior captain Jordan Buetow finished in the top 10 in each of his two races over the weekend at the UNH Carnival for the Nordic ski team to help Bates place sixth as a team and to earn Bobcat of the Week honors for the week of Jan. 20-26.

The Faribanks, Alaska, native came in ninth out of 90 skiers in the 20K freestyle race on Saturday in Jackson, N.H., with a time of 50:01.5, aiding the Bobcat men in placing sixth as a unit in the event with 71 points.

On Friday at the Jackson Touring Center, Buetow finished 10^th in a field of 89 competitors in the 10K classic technique race behind a time of 25:59.3. The Bates Nordic men came in fifth in the event with 65 points.

The Burke Mountain Academy product has enjoyed a strong start to the EISA (Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Association) season after capturing a fourth-place finish in the 1.5K freestyle sprint at the US Championships earlier this month.

Buetow and the Bobcats return to action at the UVM Carnival on Friday and Saturday.
