Senior and team captain Dakota Donovan led Bates women’s soccer to a 2-0 week behind a team-high five points on two goals and an assist, gaining Bobcat of the Week accolades for the week of Sept. 8-14.
In the team’s 2-1 NESCAC win over Hamilton on Saturday, the Marblehead, Mass., native gave the Bobcats a 1-0 lead on a goal in the 54th minute. Her tally on assists from first-year Julia Rosen (Springfield, Ill.) and junior Leah Humes (Beaconsfield, Quebec) setup senior Alex Millstrom (Melrose, Mass.) to net the game-winning goal in the 90th minute.
On Tuesday, Donovan notched the game-winning goal and added an assist as the Bobcats beat Southern Maine, 4-0. The Dana Hall School graduate scored in the 22nd minute off a feed from Humes prior to assisting on a strike from sophomore Ana Urbina (Bow, N.H.) in the 67th minute which pushed Bates’ edge to 2-0.
“I think we possessed well. We kept our composure on defense. We dropped back when we needed to and had a good flow going throughout the game,” Donovan said after the USM win.
Next, Bates plays at Bowdoin on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. before hosting Wesleyan on Saturday at 11 a.m.
