Junior Ruby Lightbourn turned in a strong all-around performance to help the Bates volleyball team start the season 4-0 over the weekend at the Husson Invitational. She averaged 3.45 digs, two kills, 0.82 service aces, 0.45 assists and 0.25 blocks per set over the course of four matches.
Lightbourn (Los Angeles, Calif.) tallied four kills, one assist, a service ace, eight digs and a block in the Bobcats' 3-0 win over Saint Joseph's on Friday. She followed that up the same day with seven kills, an assist, three service aces and nine digs in Bates' 3-0 win over host Husson.
On Saturday, Lightborn notched six kills, three assists, nine digs and two blocks (one solo) in the Bobcats' 3-0 victory over Plattsburgh. Later that day, she finished off the weekend with five kills, five service aces and 12 digs in Bates' 3-0 win over Curry.
The Bobcats are off to their best start since 2014 and it marks the first time this century they've won their first four matches by scores of 3-0.
