First-year defender Delaney Nalen and some of her classmates have been a bright spot this season for the Bates field hockey team, and Nalen has seemingly improved throughout the campaign to emerge as one of the top young players in the NESCAC.
Nalen (Englewood, Colo.) scored a go-ahead goal in the second half of Bates’ 3-1 loss to Williams on Saturday, and also collected three defensive saves in the contest, to assume the conference lead in that category with six on the season. Nalen also scored her first collegiate goal in Bates’ 2-1 win over Husson on Wednesday.
Over the final five games of the season, Nalen totaled two goals, one assist and six defensive saves as the Bobcats went 2-3.
