Fakorede (Newark, N.J.) won the weight throw by over nine feet, at 53-3.75, and also placed second in the shot put (38-5.5) at the Bates Invitational on Saturday. Bates finished first in the event, scoring 227 points in all, outpacing Colby by 106. Southern Maine participated in the heptathlon only and scored 20 points, and St. Joseph's College scored four points.
