Russell (Cumberland, Maine) scattered five hits over seven innings while allowing only one run (it was unearned), walking one and striking out five in the Bobcats' 3-2 win over Williams in game two of Saturday's doubleheader. Russell did not get a decision but his outstanding performance set Bates up for victory in the regular season finale.
Over his final 19 innings pitched this season, Russell struck out 17 batters and allowed only three runs (one earned).
