Fakorede (Newark, N.J.) marked a new personal best and moved up the national list in the discus throw, placing second overall with a top effort of 165-9 Saturday at the Open New England Outdoor Championships. Fakorede moved into seventh place on the Division III performance list this season. He also jumped from ninth place to fifth on Bates' all-time performance list in the event.

On Friday, Fakorede added two team points by placing seventh in the hammer throw with a top effort of 171-3.

Bates scored 31 points, placing eighth out of 38 teams that scored points for top-eight performances, six points behind seventh-place Boston University. Bates was third among Division III teams, trailing only MIT (56) and Tufts (39). Northeastern won the meet with 156.
