Senior captain Riley Ewing (Bedford, N.H.) won three individual races plus a relay for the Bates men's swimming team and the host Bobcats swept their NESCAC rivals Trinity College and Wesleyan University on Saturday in the opening swimming and diving meet of the 2017-18 season.

Ewing won the 100-yard backstroke in 53.07 seconds, the 200 back in 1:55.70 and the 200 IM in 1:59.63. Ewing also helped Bates win the 200 medley relay in 1:35.65.
