Senior captain Jake Shapiro set the Bates single season and career records for saves by saving all three games in the Bobcats' series sweep of Trinity. His nine career saves and his six saves this season are both program records.

The Bobcats went 5-1 overall on the week, with Shapiro tossing four and two thirds innings of shutout ball. He struck out a pair on his way to a five-out save in Bates' 8-7 win Friday at Trinity. 

Then on Saturday, the Bobcats rallied to take a 5-3 lead in the top of the seventh and Shapiro struck out two more batters to secure a save in game one of the Bobcats' doubleheader with the Bantams. 

In game two of the twin bill, Shapiro worked around a hit and a walk, getting a game-ending double play for this third save of the series and sixth of the season. He is currently tied for the conference lead in saves this year. 

On the season, Shapiro sports a 1-0 record with a 0.00 ERA in 16.1 innings pitched.
