First-year Riley Burns scored the game-winning goal and the Bates field hockey team turned in a strong performance in a 2-1 win over Connecticut College Saturday afternoon.

With the score tied at one, the Bobcats went ahead for good in the 33rd minute. Senior Emma Patterson took a penalty corner and delivered a feed to senior captain Shelbie McCormack who stick stopped it for Burns. Burns (Sterling, Mass.) fired a shot from distance with good power, finding the back left side of the cage for her third goal of the season. 

The Bobcats host Maine-Farmington in non-conference action this Tuesday at 6pm on Campus Ave. Field.
