Junior Juliette Hoder turned in the best performance of her career in the giant slalom to lead the Bates women's alpine skiing team to fifth place at the UVM Carnival on Thursday. She returned to her hometown in style, racing down the hill at Stowe Mountain Resort in a two-run combined time of 2:10.18. Her performance was good for eighth out of 97 collegiate skiers, earning the Bobcats 33 carnival points. Hoder picked up 32 NCAA points in a big step towards potentially qualifying for the NCAA Championships for the second time in her Bates career.

Then on Friday, she placed in the top 20 for the second straight day, taking 18th place in a field of 98 skiers in the slalom with her two-run combined time of 1:59.71. Hoder earned 25 carnival points and 13 NCAA points as she once again paced the Bobcats.
