Weigel helped the Bates 200-yard freestyle relay team break their own school record and the meet record as well, grabbing first place in an NCAA 'B' Cut time of 1:20.07 at the Maine Collegiate Invite on Friday. He went on to break four more meet records, winning the the 200-yard IM in 1:52.52, leading off the 200-yard medley relay, which won in an NCAA 'B' Cut time of 1:28.50, winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:40.49, and helping the 400-yard freestyle relay win in 3:01.00. Weigel was also the runner-up to teammate Max Cory in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 44.99 seconds.
