Bates baseball head coach, Jon Martin, has announced the addition of Mike Laflamme to his coaching staff. He will join returning assistant coaches, Jeff Benson and Isiah Fleming, for the 2023 campaign.
"I am excited for the addition of Coach Mike Laflamme to the Bates Baseball program," said Martin. "There is no doubt that his knowledge of the game, enthusiasm, and overall character will help guide our student-athletes on and off the field. We are all looking forward to working with him, and we welcome him to the Bates community."
Laflamme joins the garnet and white after serving in the same capacity with Plymouth State University (N.H.) from 2016-22. While with the Panthers, he enjoyed a variety of responsibilities, including: outfield coach, base running coach, and pitching coach. In fact, Plymouth State led all of Division III baseball in stolen bases per game during the 2018 season under Laflamme's tutelage.
"I'm thrilled to be here at Bates and to take advantage of the opportunity to work with Coach Martin, his staff, and a tremendous group of guys," said Laflamme. "This team has the work ethic and passion necessary to achieve the results we are looking for as a program. I will be looking to provide our hitters with mental and physical tools that will allow their ability and competitiveness to dictate how we move forward . The goal is constant self-improvement, on and off the field, as we build something that not only our team can take pride in, but also the supportive alumni and community here at Bates."
An alum of Plymouth State, Laflamme graduated with a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice before earning a Master of Science in athletic training.
