Jonny Macadam

Jonny Macadam enters his first season as the head coach of the Bates College women’s soccer program in 2026, becoming the ninth head coach in the program’s 46-year history.

Macadam arrives in Lewiston after serving as first assistant coach at NCAA Division I Fordham University, where he played a key role in the Rams’ rise within the Atlantic 10 Conference. During his tenure, Fordham advanced to the A-10 semifinals in 2025 for the first time since 2015 after reaching the conference quarterfinals in 2024. The program also produced two Atlantic 10 Rookies of the Year, multiple all-conference selections, and earned Atlantic 10 Coaching Staff of the Year honors in 2024.

At Fordham, Macadam helped lead a significant program turnaround, as the Rams climbed from last place in the preseason poll to a top-three conference seed through improvements in recruiting, player development, daily standards, and overall team culture. Recruiting has remained a central focus throughout his coaching career, with extensive experience identifying and developing talent both domestically and internationally while emphasizing strong institutional and academic fit.

Prior to Fordham, Macadam spent six seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Bridgeport, where he was a member of the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championship coaching staff. During his time with the Purple Knights, the program also captured multiple conference and regional championships, including an Elite Eight appearance in 2016.

In addition to his collegiate experience, Macadam has held roles at Fairfield University and with Connecticut Football Club, where he serves as technical director and head coach, overseeing player development pathways and college placement initiatives.

A native of Scotland, Macadam signed his first professional contract at age 17 with Livingston FC before continuing his playing career in the United States at Grand View University (Iowa). He earned NAIA Second Team All-America honors and was named the Midwest Collegiate Conference Player of the Year in 2013.

Macadam earned an MBA from the University of Bridgeport, along with a master’s degree in global media and communications and a bachelor’s degree in health promotion, fitness, and wellness.
